Promotion Guidelines

To be promoted to Lance Corporal you must:

  • participate in the first year of the star training program for a minimum period of five months, and
  • be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander;

To be promoted to Corporal you must: 

  • hold the rank of LCpI,
  • participate in the Cadet Fitness Assessment,
  • successfully complete year one of the star training program, and
  • be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander;

To be promoted to Master Corporal you must: 

  • complete at least six months of service at the rank of Cpl,
  • participate in the Cadet Fitness Assessment,
  • successfully complete the second year of the star training program, and
  • be recommended by the appropriate platoon

To be promoted to Sergeant you must: 

  • complete at least six months service at the rank of MCpI,
  • participate in the Cadet Fitness Assessment,
  • successfully complete the third year of the star training program, and
  • be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander.

To be promoted to Warrant Officer you must: 

  • complete at least six months service at the rank of Sgt,
  • participate in the Cadet Fitness Assessment,
  • have successfully completed the fourth year of the star training program,
  • have achieved enhanced proficiency in most subject areas including leadership and instructional techniques, and
  • be recommended by the appropriate platoon commander.

To be promoted to Master Warrant Officer you must: 

  • complete at least six months service at the substantive rank of WO,
  • participate in the Cadet Fitness Assessment, and
  • be identified as a successful candidate through the merit review board process.

To be promoted to Chief Warrant Officer you must: 

  • completed at least six months service at the substantive rank of MWO, and
  • be identified as a successful candidate through the merit review board process.
